  • Japan grant HCM City to upgrade sewer system

    (Construction) - According to JICA, HCM City and the Japanese Government on Friday signed an agreement for non-refundable aid worth JPY1.882 billion (US$16.84 million) to upgrade the city’s existing sewerage system using trenchless technologies.

  • Japanese develops heavy duty drone for construction site

    (Construction) - Tokyo-based air mobility startup SkyDrive begun development of a heavy-duty cargo drone which can deliver goods and equipment to construction sites. The firm and construction company Obayashi jointly launched testing to demonstrate the capability of the drone carrying 30kg construction materials by autonomous driving. Pre-orders have been accepted since December 2019.

  • Acceptance of upper Kon Tum hydroelectric reservoir

    (Construction) - On February 20 in Kon Tum, the Government Council for Construction Acceptance conducted a meeting to review the results of Thuong Kon Tum reservoir under the hydroelectric project.

  • Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant completion in around 30 years

    (Construction) - Decommissioning works are underway at Tokyo Electric Power Company’s Fukushima No.1 Nuclear Power Plant as nearly nine years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake wrecked the area. The company is cleaning up rubble on the reactor buildings in preparation for removing spent fuel debris while treating the contaminated water.

  • Nippon Koei launches website offering climate change predictions for world major cities 

    (Construction) - Japanese civil engineering consulting firm Nippon Koei developed the data correction method to adjust climate change predictions for major cities in the world. The method can reduce bias by comparing the data on GCM developed by international organizations with the observed climate data and modifying the values. The firm launched a website to provide time-series predictions of the rainfall and the  temperature up to 2099.
